Ultima IX: Ascension
This game marks the end of the trilogy of trilogies, drawing both the trilogy and the entire series to a close with the elimination of the Guardian and the Ascension of the Avatar. This game self-conciously depicts an aging avatar meeting one last time with an aged entourage. I suspect his age of about 40 converts to an aproximate average age of the Ultima fan by 2000. The game had more than it's fair share of bugs, but this can only be expected by such an ambitiously crafted game. The story takes a few shortcuts, but this still marks an extremely impressive end to a 21 year legacy. The game is not online at this time. But feel free to purchase it.
