Ultima VII: The Black Gate
This Ultima begins the third and final trilogy. This can be understood as the Guardian trilogy. The Avatar arrives in britannia to find the prevalence of the mysterious fellowship, and an apparent lack of magic throughout the land. This game came out for DOS, and the Super NES. The DOS version is far more elaborate, surpassing the SNES version in every way. The SNES version is structured slightly differently, however. It is more of an action adventure game like it's SNES cousin, Runes of Virtue II, and as such there are no Allies. The SNES version is different enough that it is worth playing, but the DOS version is much better. The DOS version works under very strict conditions, and will generally not work for any modern machine, but the Exult team has since ported it to many systems.The games and emulators are below.
